My American Pantry (MAP) and the SFMOMA Blue Bottle Coffee Bar will collaborate to create a “rooftop Rothko” on Sunday April 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. for an afternoon of art and food craft. SFMOMA’s Blue Bottle Coffee pastry chef Leah Rosenberg and MAP founder and culinary artist Andrea Blum will create a Rothko picnic blanket on the SFMOMA Rooftop Garden. Artisans and SFMOMA members will lie atop the Rothko background for an aerial photo taken by a remote control camera hovering above.
The event will showcase a variety of food artisans offering a chance to explore the connections between food and art. Visitors may take home a piece of the Rothko hand-printed fabric and get a free day at the museum.
Join us to share, taste, and discover what Bay Area artisans create. SFMOMA will temporarily close its doors after June 2 for construction on a major expansion project. This event will be a special opportunity to enjoy the Rooftop Sculpture Garden and celebrate American art and food before the museum is out of the building and on the go, presenting new art experiences around the Bay Area until the building reopens in 2016.
The event is open to SFMOMA members and to the public.
