"Cakewalks" are objects/ prototypes I designed as an artist in residence at Autodesk's Pier 9 in San Francisco. These objects are three dimensional maps of walks I have taken. Each layer of felt is a color of a plant, mushroom, insect or lichen I have picked on a hike. I take the organisms and extract the color then dye the material. These objects combine hand building in the wood shop and digital fabrication using a waterjet. I use the living materials as color in both the stands and the food displayed.
