The MAP project moves to the Tahoe region June 16.
MAP is planning a shoot Sunday June 16, 2013. Using a remote control helicopter ( handmade and artisan in its own right), we will take a series of high resolution photos as you lay in a field or near the lake's edge with your tools of the trade and the food or drink that represent you. This photo will be part of a larger an interactive "atlas" of American artisan, small production handmade food and drink. Bring yourselves, your art, a story and food to share with your cohorts and join the fun... because it really is fun.
HOW: Sign up here or below if you want to participate in the next photo for the MAP atlas of American food and drink artisans.
When: TBA ( early morning before the winds pick up)
Where: TBA we will keep you posted. On the lake or very near the lake. (Depends if flowers in bloom in certain meadow...)
Bring: Examples of your food or drink and tools of your trade including jars, animals, bottles. The object here is to get a pattern of people and things such as bagels, pies, bottles and animals to make the photo as interesting as we can. Fill out the paperwork I send once you sign up. It's needed to document who you are and what you make and what you are bringing.
see you soon.
thx!
A MAP photo taken on the rooftop of the SFMOMA April 21st showing Bay
Area food artisans and entrepreneurs. The sun was blazing and the chocolate melting but we did it! Thanks you to all the talented and inspired products and people who made this happen.
Registration now closed: Friday 4/19/13
Check/Sign in 1 pm -1:30 pm, Shoot 2 pm sharp
SFMOMA’s Blue Bottle Coffee pastry chef Leah Rosenberg and MAP founder and culinary artist Andrea Blum will create a Rothko picnic blanket on the SFMOMA's Rooftop Garden for a collective aerial photo of Bay Area food + drink artisans and the public.
SFMOMA rooftop Sculpture Garden and Blue Bottle Coffee Bar. 5th floor.
April 21, 2013. Photo participants check in at rooftop between 1 pm -1:30 pm for set up sign in. Photo shoot begins at 2 pm sharp. The shoot will last about an hour to an hour and a half. The event will be over at 5 pm. Drop off of food items anytime after 11 am.
Food/drink artisans will get their tickets/badge at the Minna Street entrance while the other participants can get their entry tickets/badge to the museum in the atrium at the info desk where there will be a list. The museum opens at 11 am. If you do not find yourself on the list tell the front desk you are part of the rooftop photo shoot as a back up.
If your items are bigger than a small backpack or shoulder pack, do not bring the items through the front entrance. Instead drop them off at the Minna Street entrance where you will get a badge for entry. Tell security you are part of the photo shoot in the sculpture garden on the 5th floor. Call Leah Rosenberg at 415-264-8697 who will meet you at the Minna Street entrance and bring the items to the roof. This must happen well before 1:30pm ( earlier the better). Suggestion: drop off early 11-12 and have a look at the museum, check in at the rooftop around 1 pm and have a coffee.
Artisans bring their tools and food craft to share as samples and to set up as part the composition for the photo no larger than 2'x2'. Be inspired by color or form by the museum collection. The Rothko is orange and blue and you could be inspired by those colors, for example. No cooking, alcohol, or selling. Bring promotional cards for sure and sample-style ways to taste your products. Keep it simple. The items you bring represent what you do and make. We will make a pattern with the items for the photo. Bring warm clothes in case.
Artisans and the public must sign in at a table set up in the sculpture garden and get a number that will be used to identify you in the photo. You will get a hand-printed piece of fabric to use as part of the Rothko background. You’ll sign a photo release form and a liability form to be in the photo and give to the person checking you in. Then......The photo shoot goes in two waves.
First Food Artisans: In the sculpture garden you will start your set up for the photo as soon as you get your fabric. Place your fabric down and arrange your items within a 2x2 space above your head. There will be an area to set up your samples atop butcher paper to share after the shoot. Leah Rosenberg, the in house pastry chef will have a station to make Rothko toasts with apricot butter and blueberry jam in honor of the artist. The photo shoot will begin at 2 pm.
Any questions please call Andrea Blum at 415-300-6686 (text me day of the shoot...)
